Outreach and Extension
I have been involved in extension and education in rural areas since the early days of my professional career. I worked in international development and cooperation in various countries in Latin America in areas including vocational education in agriculture, technical assistance to small and limited-resource farmers, planning and evaluation of projects in rural areas, and coordination and implementation of rural development initiatives. Domestically, I concentrated in areas related to migrant and agricultural labor, Latino and minority farmers, as well as sustainable agriculture and community food systems.
I hope to continue my work in the emphasis area of my department, Human Dimensions of Sustainability, serving Latino communities to enhance their quality of life and collaborating with Extension educators to provide relevant programs and effective assistance to the Latino population. I also welcome partnerships with other professionals and organizations serving the Latino community
