Time: TBD
Room: TBD

This course is a capstone-level introduction to understanding diversity in American society. By the time incoming freshmen approach retirement age, no racial/ethnic group will make up more than 50 percent of the U.S. population. This course will help students understand: the historical and current forces that propel this increasing diversity, the difference between racial/ethnic/ancestry groups in the US and where to find information on these; how the US compares with other countries on international migration trends; how internal migration trends have shaped where we live; reasons for increasingly diverse family structures; and how all these are connected to trends in poverty.
